The
Institute of Martial Arts, established in 1970, is devoted
to teaching an effective street fighting martial art
- rather than a sport or tournament form as is commonly
found today - while specializing in personal mental,
spiritual, and character development. Regular training
is conducted with private
lessons plus additional group practice sessions.
The private lesson format accelerates the learning process
three to five times faster than the common group-only
method of training according to Harvard learnnig studies.
The
fighting skills taught at the A.C.K. are simple
and can be acomplished by anyone regarless
of age, size, or natural physical ability. The style
of Kenpo Karate has always had a reputation for its
straight-forward lethal effectivness, and easy application
to real life situations.
Instruction
at the A.C.K. is completely safe, and focused on each
individual's needs through a very structured personal
program conducted by a highly qualified and certified
instructor, personally assigned to each student, who
is devoted to the overall skill and character development
of his assigned students. Each individual trains with
one private lesson per week, and attends as many group
practice sessions as he wishes. The cost of training
is comparable to other schools which do not include
private instruction as the foundation of their training
programs.
The
special character of the A.C.K. training method is seen
in its embracing the full scope of the martial arts
- specializing in the development of mental and personal
(or spiritual) abilities. This type of training is almost
impossible to find in today's 'modernized' schools,
and is the actual foundation for a person's growth.
The A.C.K. does not teach or adhere to any principles
that would conflict with any ideals of particular philosophies
or religions. We do build extraordinary individuals
- true Warrior Sages - fulfilling the ages old promise
of the martial arts: Creating a stronger and truer human
being. Earlier problems, fears, and stress drop away
as one becomes stronger than the forces making up one's
difficulties. Limitations fall away as the student's
potentials are increased, and he employs advanced mental
and personal techniques to master his life. It is a
developmental path and unique experience unlike any
other, which will be a hallmark in your life.
All
ages and ability levels are welcome (offering special
family discounts). Through careful training, patience,
and understanding, our professional instructors will
guide you along a special journey that will enhance
your physical, mental, and spiritual awareness and abilities.
We invite you to visit us to find out what the A.C.K.
and Kenpo Karate is all about.

IMPORTANT
INFORMATION FOR STUDENTS NEW TO THE MARTIAL ARTS
Up
to twenty years ago, one could join any martial arts
school and be assured of receiving the full scope of
the martial arts in his training. Unfortunately this
is not true today, and the necessity of a basic understanding
of the martial arts is more important than ever when
choosing a school. When the martial arts became commercialized
in the mid 1970’s, many schools started to specialize
and reduce what they offered the public. The focus on
character development and extraordinary mental and spiritual
abilities gave way to sport karate and seven year old
black belt ‘masters’.
Today
the public doesn’t really know what to expect
or look for in beginning the martial arts. As a public
service the A.C.K. offers a FREE
ORIENTATION LECTURE AND DEMONSTRATION which will
educate any prospective student on which style and school
will best supply what he is personally seeking. It puts
the history, purposes, and different approaches of the
various styles in an understandable perspective which
will enable the student to correctly choose the type
of training experience which will suite him best and
the type of school which focuses on his particular goals.
The lecture also addresses commons pitfalls one must
avoid when choosing a new school, like committing to
contracts, and how to evaluate a new school's program.
Illuminating demonstrations make the differences between
the various martial arts styles understandable, and
also clarify the difference between physical, mental,
and spiritual training. The intriguing conclusion concerns
ones’ role and purpose in life and makes for an
entertaining and thought provoking experience. This
is a ‘must’ for new or continuing students
in the martial arts who need to become better informed,
before committing to any particular school or training
approach. Join us and enjoy this helpful presentation.
